The 4 Parenting Myths I Wont Buy From a Working Mom of 17 Years

The 4 Parenting Myths I Won't Buy â€" From a Working Mom of 17 Years Following 17 years as a working mother, I consider my to be work as raising my two children and making them liable, moral grown-ups who add to the fate of the world. On an everyday premise, however, this generally includes cooking for them, driving them around, tidying up after them and continually recalling the amount I love them. Im lucky to have an extraordinary unruly accomplice in my better half, and he makes a domain of sexual equity at home; daddy cooking doesnt connote a unique event, for example. Add to this a business that engages you, just as the board that qualities your commitments, and what you have is a group of irreplaceable partners for working mothers like me who need to keep their sanity.Today, as an item the executives chief at Continental AG, I work with worldwide groups. In some cases this implies my day starts at 5 a.m., and others, it implies I start late and finish work at night. Adaptability is a two-way road, and I have been blessed that my manager bears me the chance to make an incredible most with my family while likewise having a satisfying vocation. With my most seasoned making a beeline for school this fall and a center schooler that develops increasingly free continuously, Im at a mixed (yet in addition advantageous) point of my life as a mother.Myth #1: Having everything is possible. You can accomplish anything in the event that you buckle down enough to get it. In any case, having everything? That is an alternate story!Instead, one must figure out how to organize savagely. We as a whole have a similar 24 hours in a day. Until the day comes when you can clone yourself to be at the work supper, soccer practice and symphony presentation simultaneously something must give. Put your blame in a safe spot. What's more, dont contrast yourself with that mother from school truly, we as a whole havethatone. The person who is on the educational committee, takes care of her children veggies developed in her own nursery, flies off to New York on Tuesday for a gathering and afterward is set for Napa Valley for her month to month escape with her better half. Praise her. And afterward consider a duck it looks so quiet and serene gliding on a superficial level, yet under the water, its stepping its feet angrily to keep above water. You are no duck mother youve figured out how to state no when its required and express yes to remaining normal. What's more, youll be shocked by how great the Napa Valley wine sold at your neighborhood food merchants tastes when the children are sleeping and you and your better half can taste it under the stars in your own sweet, sweet terrace. Napa can wait.Myth #2: You should be immaculate to bring up great kids.Kids are exceptionally sympathetic. You are the soccer mother that cant join to mentor all prepare, yet you can be the mother that is answerable for the group pennant. I have done both, and trust me, making the pennant with my child and his colleagues was much more fun than running the drills. Some evenings, the supper table wont cover all the nutritional categories the manner in which it should. As hard for what it's worth to think, missing that one serving of carrots and broccoli won't break your child. A worried parent is undeniably progressively unsafe. Being human, you will wreck commonly. Be benevolent to yourself. Be pleasant to your life partner. There is an exercise there, as well, for your children. Individuals commit errors, however the main thing is flexibility. You get up, brush your error off, and improve the following time.Myth #3: True love is sacrifice.Motherhood doesn't mean selflessness. Being a saint makes everybody despondent at long last. You may be leaving the children at home and working since you are compelled to. You may be a mother who feels your activity adjusts your character and satisfies you. In any case, you do as well as can be expected, and your children will discover that its OK to follow their passion.Time is a valuable product, and the sooner you figure out how to make the most of what you have as opposed to worrying about subtleties, the more you will flourish. Your children will figure out how to be progressively free and keen to what you bring to the table, as well. What's more, what theyll love you for is being there for them, listening to them, tolerating them the manner in which they are, and for the recollections you make with them. Theyre not including the quantity of hours you go through with them in a day.Myth #4: Love starts and finishes with mom. While the adoration for a mother for her youngster stays unchallenged as the most impressive type of unrestricted love, there are a lot of different types of it. Once in a while, it takes a town to bring up your children. Find support and look for favors. You will be charmingly amazed at the impact a non-parent grown-up can bring into your children life. Grandparents, uncles and aunties acquire an alternate sort of adoration. The children will share thin gs they might not have any desire to impart to you. Your amicable neighbor can be your children substitute grandmother who keeps an eye on the night youre running late from work. Your children companions mother that amazing lady who remains at home devoting her life to forming and thinking about her family can offer a playdate on an evening when school closes early. Figure out how to manage it when your kid has a favorable opinion of her custom made brownies.Ultimately, parenthood is difficult work. Dealing with a vocation close by it doesnt make it more straightforward. When you think you cannot set down one more plane loaded up with soft peas and carrots into your 2-year-olds mouth and simply need to cover up and rest: call your mom. She will reveal to you that the apple doesnt fall a long way from the tree, and that you were a particular eater at age 2, as well, yet ended up being okay. Also, shell reveal to you the most ideal approach to get the carrot stain out of your preferre d work blouse. This too will pass. Trust her; mom knows the best. Also, in the event that you are genuinely fortunate, you may locate a delightful consideration bundle at your doorstep three days after the fact. Appreciate it. You have earned it.- - Fairygodboss is glad to join forces with Continental.

Takeover Case Study Chase And Wamu, Part Ii

Takeover Case Study: Chase and WaMu, Part IIThis is not your ordinary career site. I help the corporate worker who toils away in the company cubicle make career transitions. You want to do your job well, following all the rules -- .The career transitions where I can help you center on three critical career areas: How to land a job, succeed in a job, and build employment security.Top 10 Posts on CategoriesOne of the most difficult activities for a Cubicle Warrior to do is understand the dynamics within a company, especially where the company is being bought by another. When a company is purchased, everything that employees believe about the company is now up for examination. This creates uncertainty, even fear, about their job, job security, and future work with the company.Yet, the ability to make critical decisions about what will happen with a company purchased by another gives the Cubicle Warrior an advantage to others. Should you stick it out with the company? Is my job lost and it is just a matter of time? Are there more opportunities if I stay? All of these are critical questions. With banks and investment companies being purchased left and right, I’d like to take the example of Chase and Washington Mutual and use this case study as a model to show how you can evaluate your career after a company is purchased. Though I once worked for Washington Mutual, I’m only going to use publicly available records for the events that happen there in the evaluation. This case is also a good one to use because Chase had done some preliminary investigative work to offer a purchase, but then abandoned the effort â€" until the Office of Thrift Supervision took over and brokered the sale to Chase.Let’s get to the case study. The second question most people ask after determining their job status is: What about my benefits? When I worked for Ameritech, a regional phone company, and it was purchased by SBC (now the “new” AT&T…), the law required that benefits had to stay the same inside Ameritech and if there was a difference in benefits with SBC, only the better of the two benefits could be selected for ALL employees. Makes sense in that you keep employees whole or improve their situation. Now, with Chase and WaMu, that is not the case. Chase bought the “banking operations” but not the WaMu Holding Company. What does this mean? It means lawsuits are the holding company’s problem. It means the pension is at the holding company. It means that Chase is not obligated to provide a severance plan.So part of the measure of a takeover company is what they do with benefits in this type of situation. And, in my opinion, what Chase has done has gone above and beyond:For the rest of employees, Scharf (handling the transition for Chase…Scot) said the company is not changing salaries, medical and dental plans, vacation benefits, pensions or the 401(k). For those employees who are laid off, JPMorgan Chase put in a new severance plan that matches w hat WaMu had; employees who are asked to stay on temporarily will get enhanced severance.A piece of news that many employees were awaiting was the fate of a deferred compensation plan, into which many employees had put thousands of dollars each. “We are going to keep everyone whole, whether they’re current employees or retired employees,” Scharf said. “People will not lose money because of that.”Pension-plan assets were not included in the transaction because they were part of the parent holding company (which has since filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy court protection) and not the banking operations that JPMorgan Chase bought. “We will be going to the bankruptcy judge to move that over,” Scharf said. “Our intention is to replace the obligations in the pension plan so people don’t lose money.”In addition, they are not treating corporate executives with dollars if they can help it:JPMorgan Chase isn’t taking on all of WaMu’s compensation programs, such as addit ional pension benefits and change-of-control retention payments for upper-level executives. But WaMu stock is a different story. If you lost money on WaMu stock like shareholders lost money, you are on your own. That makes perfect sense: if you were not smart enough to get out of WaMu stock as an employee (who should really have known better…), then you won’t be rewarded. Conclusion: JPMorgan is being more than fair with WaMu employees and this is just the public stuff. You can infer a lot about a company with what they do to keep employees whole on benefits, pension, severance, and compensation. It is your first indication of the culture of the company and whether or not it makes sense to stay. This is not your ordinary career site. I help the corporate worker who toils away in the company cubicle make career transitions. The Slowpokes Guide to Working in a Fast-Paced Environment

The Slowpoke's Guide to Working in a Fast-Paced Environment The Slowpoke's Guide to Working in a Fast-Paced Environment Time. There will never be sufficient of it. In any event, when you're on your plan for the day, the strain to move quicker and complete all the more never appears to disappear. Furthermore, those are the days that don't whip by. On the off chance that that sounds recognizable, at that point the odds are acceptable that you work in a relentless working environment and that you are battling to stay aware of the remainder of your group. It's nothing unexpected; as per Simply Hired information, a year ago the quantity of employments portrayed as relentless grew 26 percent. Furthermore, as the weights to perform quicker at work develop, many occupation searchers wonder what it truly intends to work in a relentless domain and how they can change their abilities to get by somewhat simpler and accomplish a quicker pace. Is it accurate to say that you are to a greater degree a slacker however keen on surpassing your past exhibition? Heres a glance at significant understanding into working in a relentless domain and to decide how to be fruitful once you accept the position. Relentless Means Less Time to Think Managers depict relentless employments as powerful, cutoff time driven, exceptionally communitarian, requesting, quickly changing and loaded up with high development. Taking a gander at these words all together, an image of what relentless truly implies begins to meet up: it's a domain where you regularly should settle on choices with next to no an ideal opportunity to thoroughly consider them. This may sound risky, particularly considering the significant places that are depicted as relentless, for example, legal advisors, medical caretakers, gourmet specialists, drug specialists and administrators. Be that as it may, not having a great deal of time to thoroughly consider things is just troublesome when you aren't sure what to do. Or, in other words that it's difficult to act in a relentless domain on the off chance that you have not readied yourself with the senses, certainty and preparing to carry out the responsibility well and rapidly. The response to being progressively effective in a relentless position (and to decide if a relentless position is a solid match for you in any case) is to make direct move to refine your senses, assemble certainty and seek after all the more preparing. Improving Your Instincts, Confidence and Training The lawful business demonstrates the greatest requirement for speed with 24 percent of occupations portraying themselves as relentless in 2015, trailed by human services with 21 percent. We should utilize those two enterprises as our model for how improve your presentation in a relentless domain. Refine your senses Do you ever end up feeling confounded, overpowered or unsure about what to do in your work environment? Do you wish you had more opportunity to settle on every choice? In the event that you do, that implies you don't have the essential senses of the situation down. You consider every guidance or situation autonomous of the setting of your working environment, driving you to invest more energy in speculation and questioning yourself before you act. While a few people are brought into the world with astounding senses for a specific field, all of us need time and experience to ingrain those essential exercises as impulses at work. The best arrangement here is to join forces with an accomplished veteran at your particular employment and request that they walk you through their dynamic procedure during specific times. For instance, in the event that you are another attendant and you wind up questioning the choices you make for the duration of the day, it will assist you with shadowing a veteran medical caretaker and pose her inquiries as she settles on those choices. After some time you will comprehend the setting for her choices (continually putting the patient first, or considering what the specialist would lean toward in a specific circumstance) that assist her with settling on choices all the more rapidly. Manufacture certainty Do you settle on a choice and afterward invest a great deal of energy questioning in the event that it was the correct one? Do you make a move yet then covertly stress that you'll be condemned or terminated for it? At that point you have a certainty issue and you have to return to your underlying foundations to advise yourself that you are an exceptionally qualified proficient. We definitely realize that sure individuals secure positions faster and get more cash-flow. Be that as it may, they additionally work better in a relentless domain since they don't sit around questioning their choices or activities. It's not really that they have large self images or are in every case right; it's that they settle on choices from an educated, sure spot that invites duty. For instance, in the event that you are an as of late graduated legal counselor, you probably won't be 100 percent adjusted to working in a genuine law office with relentless, genuine choices being made nonstop. Notwithstanding, you can pick up certainty by breathing profound and concentrating on the way that you beat the lawyer exam and earned a degree. This profound comprehension of the law will assist you with becoming accustomed to your new condition and settle on speedy choices after some time. You can likewise impart your questions to a progressively senior attorney or HR colleague who can mentor you through your questions toward your best execution. Seek after preparing Do you freeze when you go to settle on a choice? It is safe to say that you are reluctant to do anything without an away from in dread of committing an error? At that point you'll discover a great deal of alleviation on the off chance that you seek after progressing preparing in your working environment. Progressing preparing is significant in two different ways. To begin with, it normally supports your senses and constructs certainty. The additional time you go through with your industry topic, the simpler it will be to consider undertakings and solicitations that surface inside the setting of your relentless working environment. Second, the additionally preparing you have, the less time you should settle on a choice and finish it. This eventually positions you to perform will in a relentless domain since you can make fast, precise choices. As a paralegal in a relentless workplace, new procedures, laws and clients as often as possible upset your workday. However, in the event that you reliably seek after expert advancement in your field, you will have the option to keep steady over these patterns and system with likeminded paralegals who can assist you with developing your insight, your senses and your certainty, eventually driving you to settle on better choices quicker. Relentless workplaces aren't for everybody. In the event that you put time in refining your impulses, building certainty and seeking after all the more preparing you despite everything feel awkward and overpowered in your working environment, you may need to consider a new position or new vocation that won't put those weights on you. Notwithstanding, the vast majority will find that concentrating on these three stages will help them rapidly use sound judgment and experience significant levels of achievement in relentless workplaces.

At the point when you're simply sitting before the web for quite a long time every day, with nobody else around, it's anything but difficult to go down the bunny gap of interruption and finish the day having scarcely gotten anything of significant worth done.Al so, a few people simply don't care for the segregation. They'd normally rather associate with partners when they're working, feel desolate working at a work area without anyone else, thus they don't keep going long in remote positions. For those reasons individuals experienced recruiting telecommuters are regularly inclined toward employing individuals who have had a type of remote work involvement with their past. They realize that independent work isn't for everyone. So how might you understand that experience in the event that you don't as of now have it?First off, verify whether you can outline any of your present abilities along these lines. For instance, I once filled in as a night front work area agent at a little inn, where I supervised the whole inn without anyone else for quite a long time at once. While it wasn't remote work, it required the kind of order, center and obligation that remote work does.Second, in the event that you don't have the right stuff, check whether you can get them rapidly. Sites like Fiverrand Upwork permit consultants from around the globe to post their abilities and interface with potential employers. If you're simply beginning, you can set your costs truly low just to get some understanding added to your repertoire â€" Upwork really includes new specialists searching for their first gigs, so it might be somewhat simpler to get this experience these days.Third, you can likewise help out for nothing to get that experience. Many programming stages have discussions where clients can pose inquiries about their administration, and anybody can answer.WordPress is an extraordinary case of this, and on their professions page they really notice helping individuals on their gatherings as a sign that you may be the correct sort of individual to work at their totally remote company.Where to Find the Good Remote JobsBeyond Upwork and Fiverr, there are a couple of different spots I'd prescribe to use for discovering great remote independent w ork.I secured my first remote position on Craigslist. Many individuals are careful about remote employments here due to the potential for them to be a trick, or at any rate only an approach to gather individuals' information. My proposal is to peruse theCraigslist work postcarefully. On the off chance that it's actually ineffectively composed, obscure about what the work comprises of or how you'll be paid, simply evade it.Also, if the work sounds unrealistic, odds are it is.Other than Craigslist, there are a couple incredible destinations that emphasis on associating telecommuters with employers.a)WeWorkRemotelyA work board only for remote occupations began by the people who manufactured Basecamp. Bosses pay $250 to post their positions, which appears to go about as a channel for keeping out low quality employments. This board ordinarily has an assortment of employments accessible, including showcasing, copywriting, deals, client care and coding.b) DribbbleYes, that is with 3 b's. Th is activity board is centered around helping architects look for some kind of employment, and regularly has various remote occupations. Fashioners can flaunt their portfolio to potential employers.c) Angellist â€" This site is regularly generally known as a stage for new businesses to associate with holy messenger speculators, however it additionally has a bustling activity board that offers various remote jobs.Ok, prepared to live the fantasy? The data above should assist you with beginning today searching for an extraordinary remote activity that lets you live in your fantasy area.

Environmental Health Threats to Kids

Environmental Health Threats to Kids Reduce the Risk: Environmental Health Threats to Your Children With October being National Children’s Health Month, focus on how to protect the next generation of adults from environmental dangers is at the top of our list. The simple truth is that children often are more susceptible to pollutants and environmental threats when compared to adults. Discover common environmental health threats to your kids, and the methods you can employ to reduce the risk. Protect from Pesticides Pesticides, chemicals used to kill pests, contain some pretty scary ingredients. The threat for children is that they often get a higher exposure than adults. They are closer to the ground, drink and eat more relative to their body weight, and tend to touch things without washing their hands. Babies are at a special risk since they have immature liver and kidneys that cannot remove pesticides as efficiently as adults. To reduce the risk, switch to baits and traps, away from where children can get to them, and eliminate food and trash that will attract pests. Keeps children and their toys away from any application of pesticides, and do not let children play in the area that pesticides were applied until at least the amount of time recommended on the pesticide label. When serving produce, be sure to wash the fruits and vegetables under running water, use a vegetable wash, and if possible, peel before serving. Too Much Sun is Not Fun Most of us have felt the effects of too much sun. Even though we need sun to get vitamin D, essential to help our bodies absorb calcium, too much sun raises the risk of premature aging and skin cancer. The scary truth is that children get the majority of their lifetime sun exposure before the age of 18, so knowing what precautions to take can help reduce the risk of cancer. Make sure children wear hats, sunglasses, and other protective clothing when out in the sun. Reduce the amount of time spent in mid-day sun, since that is when the sun’s rays are the most intense. That time is usually between 10am â€" 4pm. For sunscreen, apply at least SPF 15 to children over 6 months, and reapply often. Application will be needed more often than the directions specify if there is a vigorous activity or swimming. Keep infants out of direct sunlight. Keep the Air Clear Air pollution can affect our immune system and the efficiency that the body absorbs oxygen. Children, the elderly, and ones with asthma are most at risk from breathing in polluted air. Keeping the air clean for our children ensures they can continue breathing easy. Make sure that the air is clean and clear for your children by eliminating second hand smoke. Do not smoke, or let others smoke, in the house or the car. Keep the house clean to reduce the levels of dust and mold. Consider checking the air quality before going outside and limit outdoor activity when pollution is heightened, such as during rush hour traffic. Keeping Children Healthy Children are our future. Signs You Should Consider a Voluntary Demotion

Signs You Should Consider a Voluntary Demotion Signs You Should Consider a Voluntary Demotion The possibility of downgrade is a terrifying one. What will individuals think? Would I ever be advanced again? Would i be able to live on less cash? Once in a while a willful downgrade is the best thing somebody can do by and by and expertly. While it isn't generally the response to an extreme time at work, there are circumstances where representatives ought to think about making a stride down the chain of command. The Work-Life Balance Is Unbearable As you ascend through the positions of an administration association, you need to invest more energy working late and going to business related capacities. It just goes with the region. A city lifeguard times out toward the finish of a move and doesn't need to consider work until the beginning of the following movement. The city director, then again, has city board gatherings, crises and network occasions that frequently occur outside of typical business hours. City staff members at the different administration levels have time responsibilities along the continuum between the lifeguard and city chief that agree with those staff members' places on the hierarchical graph. Sooner or later en route to the top, a few people discover the time requests of upper-level employments not worth the exchange offs in their own lives. These time requests can be seen by individuals at lower levels of the association, yet you can't generally know how those requests will influence you until you're surviving them. On the off chance that you wind up continually giving up close to home occasions for working late or showing up at a capacity you would prefer truly not to join in, you may have arrived at an illogical work-life balance. In the event that you can't stand it any more, you might need to think about an intentional downgrade. Youre a Poor Fit with the Higher Level Position In some cases you believe you're prepared to take the following level activity, however once you arrive, you find that it uncovered your shortcomings. You were a heavenly entertainer at your old employment, however this is a totally different arrangement of obligations. Without a doubt, your experience is useful, yet the new position is unique. A poor fit with a more elevated level position happens frequently when individuals advance from singular donor positions to the executives positions. Singular patrons need to work with others, yet correspondence challenges take on various attributes when oversight is included. Singular donors may feel like their best way to propel their vocations is to take on the board duties. That is one approach to progress, yet there are different approaches to develop expertly like taking on further developed errands or investigating openings in a related territory of the association. In the event that you feel your abilities are put to all the more likely use at your old occupation, you might need to consider returning to that old job or finding an alternate job that more lines up with your gifts. You Had More Fun at a Lower Level Job While your gifts may mean the following level, maybe you aren't having a fabulous time as you did in your old occupation. A few people love the test of overseeing at more elevated levels in an association, yet others don't. Maybe bleeding edge oversight or an individual donor job is more diversion for you than overseeing more extensive and more extensive varieties of capacities. In the event that you were altogether more joyful in your old occupation, you might need to investigate a willful downgrade. You can't consume your time on earth in work you don't care for. Stress-related Health Issues The most significant resource you have in your vocation is your wellbeing. Without it, you can't do anything. Twelve-hour days and restless evenings in the long run get up to speed to you. You can keep up this calendar a brief timeframe, however you need to crash sooner or later. It doesn't need to be time requests that get to you. Horrible showing can cause extreme tension, particularly for individuals who are accustomed to surpassing desires. On the off chance that you wind up encountering pressure related medical issues, you most likely have work that is undesirable for you to hold. Better to get out now before a cardiovascular failure takes you out later.

Book review Rethinking life death - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog

Book audit Rethinking life passing - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog This book had, and still makes them think, hard. What is life? What is demise? Are a few lives worth more than others? When is it morally right to take guiltless human life? I ended up reexamining all my past responses to these inquiries, and keeping in mind that I despite everything cannot get my psyche around the radical new ethic that Singer proposes in the last piece of the book (likewise the most provocative part), I can see that the man and the book has a point. The book WILL make you reexamine life demise, its very elegantly composed, plainly considered, very first rate and (amazingly for a philosophical work) profoundly comprehensible. It used to be evident when an individual was alive or dead, however as so frequently occurs, new innovation constrains us to rethink existing morals. TO specify only a couple of models, respirators (imagined directly here in Copenhagen) permit us to keep individuals alive who might somehow have passed on; we would now be able to freeze eggs, sperm cells and even incipient organisms and resuscitate them later; and the expanding succes pace of organ transplants make a driving force to take organs from a despite everything living body in this manner executing the contributor. In Rethinking Life Death, The Collapse of Our Traditional Ethics, rationalist Peter Singer offers an uncontrollably intriguing gander at current clinical practices in western culture, and shows how they as of now abuse our conventional, judeo-christian based ethic of the holiness of life, which expresses that human life is consecrated, and that thus it is never right to execute guiltless people. At its generally outrageous, this ethic holds that premature birth is murder, willful extermination is murder (even with the patients assent), and we can never permit a human to bite the dust even on account of cerebrum demise or individuals in tireless vegetatice states (where the cortex, the seat of consiousness, has been decimated). Vocalist offers endless reasons why the conviction that human life is consecrated prompts ridiculous decisions, and succesfully exhibits that even the individuals who advance that see dont tail it. Think about the Reagan organization, who were broadly upheld by the strict conservative Moral Majority and whose position was bolstered by the then-Surgeon General of the United States, C. Everett Koop. Youd anticipate that him should be immovably in the expert life camp, doing everything he could to spare human lives, yet here are a portion of his proposals: [When managing an infant conceived without a brain] We figure it ought to be given adoring consideration and would anticipate that it should terminate in a brief timeframe. [ie. no respirator used]. [When managing an infant conceived without an intestine] We would consider standard consideration on account of that youngster the arrangement offood by mouth, realizing that it was not going to be nutritious nor do we mean to state that this kid ought to be carried on intravenous liquids for an amazing remainder. So a firm star life devotee says let the newborn child kick the bucket. What's more, I concur totally. Artist covers numerous such cases, including the framework they have in the Netherlands where specialists can lawfully enable their patients to bite the dust, gave its the patients own desire and that it is the final retreat. Balance this with the destiny of Jack Kevorkian who is as of now serving 10 to 25 years for helping individuals end it all. Vocalist contends, that instead of characterize all human life as consecrated, it is progressively moral to present a personal satisfaction ethic. That a few lives are better or increasingly deserving of being lived. That for example it may be moral to take the heart from an anencephalic child (one conceived without a mind) and transplant it into another infant brought into the world with a heart-condition that would somehow slaughter it. In an ongoing case in Australia, two such children were lying in a similar ward, had a similar blood classification, and the babies guardians consented to the transplant. However present morals and law forestalled the transplant and a couple of days after the fact the two newborn children were dead. This is moral explosive, and Singer is a daring man for constraining us to assess these decisions and for proposing another ethic that is as discerning, broad yet still accommodating as the one he proposes in this book. Resume Writers Digest Social Media for Resume Writers -- Simplified

Resume Writers' Digest Social Media for Resume Writers -- Simplified https://www.pexels.com/@energepic-com-27411 Last month,in this blog post, I showcased how some resume writing colleagues are using social media effectively to increase their visibility and influence. If youre frustrated by your efforts to get engagement on social media, I totally get it! I want to tell you about a tool Ive been using to get the most out of social media without a ton of effort. Social Media Challenges You're busy running your resume writing business. You've got resumes to write, emails to answer, prospects to follow up with all of these are competing for your time and energy. Social media often ends up low on your priority list. (Which, many times, means it just doesn't get done.) Coming up with ideas for what to post each day is overwhelming. You're not sure what to post on social media, let alone come up with new content to post every single day. Social Media Solutions Over the past month, I've been using Angie Genslers Social Media Content Calendar as a guideline for my social media posts. I like having a plan. One thing that I really like about the SMCC is that it gives me a content idea for every day of the year but even more than that, I also bought the Image Templates, so I have ready-to-go images to go with them. (I also incorporate in the Ready-To-Use Social Media Graphics I provide to Bronze members of BeAResumeWriter.com but you can never have too much content!) I pre-schedule a lot of my posts using the Facebook page scheduler tool (when you're logged into your business page, click Publisher Tools at the top of the page). I also use Hootsuite (the free version allows you to manage up to three linked social media accounts.) The neat thing about the SMCC is that its all mapped out for you, month by month. For example, heres two weeks worth of the calendar: As you can see, you won't be posting exactly the same things that everyone else is. These are content prompts. (And, like I said, you can incorporate in the BARW Ready-To-Use Social Media Graphics for example, on Saturday the 11th, for Uplifting, I go into my RTU folder for the month and choose a graphic with an inspiring quote.) If you work with a virtual assistant, you could give him or her the Social Media Content Calendar and they can handle all the content creation and posting for you. I also purchased the upgrade to the Social Media Images pack. Like Ive said before, you can never have too much ready-to-go social media content! Results Ive seen my engagement and visibility on Facebook increase with the increase in content Ive been posting. While Im spending a little more time posting things, its paying off. Want To Learn More? Wondering what is included with the Social Media Content Calendar? Heres what you get: Daily post ideas planned out for you in a proven-to-work system for social media marketing. 52 questions and 52 quotes done for you! (You also have the option to purchase 155 more done-for-you image templates that can be customized with your branding.) Three completely editable versions to work from Google Sheet (this is the one I use), Microsoft Excel, and Google Excel Complete list of holidays for the U.S., Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom Access to comprehensive lists of weird and special national holidays and observances. Ongoing support, resources, and tutorials to help you master social media marketing. Check out this video: Another neat thing is that 5% of the proceeds from the purchase of the Social Media Content Calendar are donated to charity. Read about Outreach International here. The SMCC is designed to be used with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The calendar is 100% editable and customizable, so it can be used by resume writers anywhere. (Not in the U.S.? US holidays can easily be removed, and Angie has provided supplemental lists of holidays for Australia, Canada, and the UK.) If you were inspired by my blog post last month about how other resume writers are using social media effectively, and you want to be an example I draw on in the future, I highly recommend the Social Media Content Calendar. As you can see, its an easy way to get more engaged with social media. Please note this post contains affiliate links and I may earn a commission if you click them and make a purchase. This is, of course, at no cost to you. Please read my disclaimer for more information

Writing Your LinkedIn Work Experience Section (Examples + 3 Tips)

Writing Your LinkedIn Work Experience Section (Examples + 3 Tips) LinkedIn is one of the most useful sites for finding a job and building your network. Most hiring managers and recruiters use LinkedIn to find qualified candidates. Many hiring professionals and recruiters will also view candidates LinkedIn profile before inviting them for an interview. With that in mind, its important to have a LinkedIn profile that is polished and professional. This article will focus on what to include in your LinkedIn work experience section. Weve also included our top tips to catch the attention of a hiring manager with your LinkedIn. Finally, we share a formula for taking the work experience listed on your resume and making it suitable for LinkedIn. How your LinkedIn work experience section differs from your resume First on the agenda: how your LinkedIn is different from your resume. Should you copy the work experience section from your resume and paste it into your LinkedIn profile? No! As we cover in-depth on this post, your LinkedIn profile and your resume need to be different because they serve different purposes. Your resume is tailored to a specific job, while your LinkedIn expands upon your resume for a general job search. Both documents should have the same job titles, date ranges, and basic information regarding each job. You need to present the information in different ways, though. Writing your LinkedIn work experience section Your resume should contain detailed descriptions of your work experience that are relevant to the position youre applying for. There is no need to include all of those details on your LinkedIn profile. You dont need to include as many details, but you can include more experiences. Your resume needs to include only relevant experience, but your LinkedIn can include additional professional experiences from your most recent 10 to 15 years. For example, if you have been doing freelance work that doesnt fit in with your day job, you may want to include it on your LinkedIn. Theres also a difference in perspective while writing a resume versus a LinkedIn profile. Your resume should avoid pronouns (I, we, she, our, them) but your LinkedIn should be written in the first person with a conversational tone. This is most important in your LinkedIn Experience and About sections. How to add new work experience on LinkedIn To add a new job to your LinkedIn profile, click on the + symbol at the top of the Experience section. Fill in your job title, company, location, and dates of employment. LinkedIn recently added an employment type menu, so you can specify if you were a full-time employee or not. In the same box, you can detail your description of that experience. Like a resume, youre going to want to include keywords specific to your industry and career goals. Unlike a resume, your LinkedIn work experience entries should be general, less detailed, and not tailored for a certain position. Your LinkedIn experience descriptions should start with a written summary of your achievements specific to each role. Bullet points are great for a resume because they contain a lot more information without huge blocks of text. However, paragraph form is acceptable on LinkedIn because you wont be including a ton of information. Here is an example of what that looks like after you click save: Writing LinkedIn experience versus resume experience Now lets take a look at an example of a resume work experience section, and how it translates to a LinkedIn experience section. Example of a resume experience section: Director of Sales, Southwest Region Chase | Los Angeles, CA Led a team of two account executives. Together we managed a portfolio of 50+ clients and agencies. Our client base consisted of Fortune 500 companies from a wide range of industries including Entertainment, Auto, Technology, Fashion, Technology, and Travel. Launched the company’s first app download campaign with a re-targeting strategy resulting in a two-day $500K package.Managed risk by partnering with clients and other stake holders for a seamless campaign launch.Achieved sales pacing of 70% for the year a 150% year-over-year increase in annual revenue to $7.5M.Built relationships to foster better communication between the sales and operations teams, including weekly calls to collaborate on campaigns that resulted in a 33% increase in performance.Streamlined client communication to be more responsive and timeline management that increased staff productivity. Keeping in mind our tips from above, here is how that same information would look on LinkedIn: Example of a LinkedIn experience section: Led a team that managed a 50+ client portfolio, launching the firm’s first app download campaign while partnering with stakeholders to minimize risk and streamline client communication. Increased annual revenue by 150%, and team performance by 33%. Do you see the difference? Your LinkedIn work experience section doesnt need to be as detailed as your resume. It should instead be a summary that highlights your main achievements. Formula for changing your resume work experience for LinkedIn Here is a three-step formula you can follow to convert work experience from your resume to your LinkedIn: Step 1: Copy the information Copy the work experience from your resume over to your LinkedIn profile. Break it up by company or position. Step 2: Reformat Remove the bullet points. Select your major achievementsquantifiable if possibleand remove the rest of the content. Put the most important information in the first four lines (before the cutoff). Step 3: Edit Make your content conversational and engaging. Its okay to say I did XYZ. Switching to the first-person perspective might take some rewriting, but its worth it! Summary Your LinkedIn work experience section should both complement and support your resume. Whittle it down to the most important achievements with general keywords from your industry. Keep it conversational and up to date. With a little effort, you can optimize your resumes content to work for your LinkedIn profile, too! If you need more help optimizing your resume or your LinkedIn, head over to our services page. The Best Advice I Ever Heard From a Career Coach

The Best Advice I Ever Heard From a Career Coach The Best Advice I Ever Heard From a Career Coach Im regularly requested quest for new employment guidance, and maybe the No. 1 solicitation I get is, What sort of employment would it be a good idea for me to look for? As a mentor, more often than not, I answer this inquiry â€" and other customer questions â€" with my very own issue: Why? The vast majority of us have all that could possibly be needed individuals in our lives offering their conclusions, regardless of whether we need them to or not. My objective isn't to be one of those individuals. Im of the conviction that we as of now have a considerable lot of the appropriate responses we look for. We essentially ask others when we need affirmation â€" covertly, obviously. That is not an unadulterated fact of the matter, yet a greater number of times than not, this is the situation. So â€" back to the pursuit of employment question. I continue to get some information about the thing they would accomplish for nothing. I need them to mention to me what theyre extremely energetic about. Typically, that is not the appropriate response they need, yet it makes a vital discussion that an occupation searcher may somehow or another maintain a strategic distance from. Its a discussion about qualities. What is your center conviction? Whats the genuine explanation you need a vocation in any case? Is it the cash? Probably not. Is it the title? Probably not. Albeit some would contend that point, the fact of the matter is much deeper than this. Lets take a professional education, for instance. In the event that you have one, for what reason did you seek after it in any case? Was it to get the degree? Probably not. Not so much. Was it for the control of finishing the program? In no way, shape or form. (Provided that this is true, we have to talk!) No, you sought after that degree because of the things to which it would give you get to. Ideally, you see where Im going with this. Your center conviction is the shared factor behind all of what you do. Revealing Your Core Beliefs I met with a youngster in the relatively recent past who was keen on seeking after a vocation in private land. I asked him for what reason he picked land. He said it was a direct result of the cash. I said I didnt trust him. I revealed to him that wasnt the genuine explanation. I inquired as to whether he was focused on land. His answer was, Yes. He said theres the chance of earning substantial sums of money. I concurred, however didnt trust it was about the cash. Inside a couple of moments, as I kept on posing testing inquiries, we got to the genuine explanation. This youthful man wanted to make a way of life for his family where he would have the option to send his youngsters to the best schools, offer his significant other the choice of picking her own profession, and take family relaxes. He needed opportunity and adaptability. Thats what he was focused on â€" accommodating his family. Land was essentially the vehicle. At the point when I inquired as to whether it must be land, he said it didnt must be. Whats the Point? To begin with, you have to get clear on what youre really dedicated to. More than likely, the activity is only the vehicle. Being profitably utilized is significant, however a vocation is much more than that. Being purposeful about the greater picture may give you the fortitude to pick all the more effectively. Is it accurate to say that you are picking something that will basically cover the tabs? Assuming this is the case, comprehend that is the thing that your activity is for: simply taking care of the tabs Is it for the chance to sharpen your skills, be tested, and grow your insight? At that point youre laying boards on the way to the qualities to which youre at last dedicated. Whats your (life) plan? Rather than taking a gander at work or occupation as a different issue, you should join your calling completely into your life. Regardless of whether you are a worker or own a business, the greater part of your waking minutes will be spent working. Why not invest that energy accomplishing something you appreciate? As has been said commonly previously, in the event that you pick a vocation you love, and you will never work a day in your life. That sounds truly great to me. How Recruiters Can Find More Job Leads

How Recruiters Can Find More Job Leads Are you always on the hunt for new vacancies to fill? Perhaps you have enough leads but simply want to keep an eye on the market? If I gave you 10 vacancies / jobs today â€" how many would you be able to fill? Be honest with yourselves! The UK Recruiters I have surveyed recently tell me that they fill 2 out of every 10 vacancies that they fill. However, I met a client yesterday who has managed to improve their fill rate by: Focussing on each recruiter and their own fill ratio. Getting that recruiter to go through a process of qualifying and being realistic about the quality of their leads. 10 Reasons why Recruiters Need More Job Leads: Finding job leads / vacancies is a crucial part of every recruiter’s role.   Every recruiter needs to: Know more about their sector. Gain inspiration on writing their next advert (or perhaps plagiarise?). See what their pesky competitors are up to. See what their ever-so-savvy clients are up to. Research skills bases. Research market expectations. Gage salaries / market trends. Demonstrate how clever they are. Increase the probability of finding the equivalent of the purple squirrel in job terms. And what every agency recruiter really MUST do is HAVE MORE CHOICE OVER WHAT THEY WORK! (number 10!) Imagine Having More Job Leads Imagine a day when you can cull vacancies which you have no chance of filling.   Imagine a day when the jobs you advertise are a complete and accurate indication of your approach, client base and expertise.   How about giving yourself a break from working jobs where the client has engaged with 20 other recruiters and saying “No thanks”.   I know the recession was hard and I know that the word “no” seems to have been replaced with “oh, ok then” but this is just not great business sense. Generating Job Leads Using Social Media: Here are a couple of tips, and if you really want to go to town, see the slide deck at the bottom which has another 10. On your LinkedIn Homepage there are 2 gorgeous places where you can see job leads: A little button called  All Updates. Click it, choose Jobs… there may be some gold in there! Check out the  Jobs You May Be Interested In  widget (down the right hand side of your home screen). This looks at your profile, keyword matches to jobs on the LinkedIn Jobs database (currently 300,000) and does a lovely piece if personal shopping (lead generation)  for you. Heaven forbid you cross off the ones you are not interested in (thus training the system to work better for you), or press the  See more  option and look for more / set up email alerts that would just be too easy! Take a peak and see what results you get. Lots of my clients generate leads from these cute features. Dont use the excuse that you have enough leads I bet some of your leads youd dump if you could find better ones. Want to improve your fill ratio?

Having The Talk

Having The Talk Which talk am I talking about? Well really there are two the talk to get into a relationship and the talk to get out of a relationship. Both talks are awkward, difficult, could potentially blow up in your face, and are completely necessary. For any relationship to progress, the talk must be had. So how do you handle such difficult and relationship-altering conversations? The only way-    in person. Like  most people my age, Im an avid texter and have lost basic communication skills due to the digital crutch. And as much as I want to hide this difficult subject underneath some subtle text message lingo, there is no way to get around an in person conversation for this one. To have the talk, youve got to be able to read the others face. Say youre head over heels about a guy and want to go steady with him- if you tell him this in person and he makes a face like he just saw a ghost, probably not a good sign. Same goes for the break-up talk. You arent feeling the relationship anymore and need to call it off- dont you want to see the look of pain in the others face?? Okay- that is really mean of me and not true (ish) But the other does deserves the decency of hearing it from you in person. Ive done the talk in all different ways- text, phone, mid-makeout session, skywriting (I wish). The only way to make it as clear as day and to make sure that you both are totally on the same page is in person. So as much as it may hurt, or make you feel awkward, or in my case- make you feel like you are about to throw up under water, it must be done. And done in person. After the fact, whichever path the relationship might take, youll know you started the next step of your journey on the right foot. So what do you think? Do you have any tips for having the talk? Lets have ourselves our own  talk. Happy Thursday yall! And if you have any ideas for an upcoming column, let me know!
